As part of a Future Lab collaboration with Weingut Stadt Krems—one of the oldest and most renowned wineries in Lower Austria—our task was to redesign the labels for two selected wines. The goal was to create visual identities that respect the heritage of the winery while offering a fresh, contemporary perspective. The briefing emphasized regional authenticity, the significance of local vineyards, and the balance between tradition and modern design.

My concept focused on translating the landscape and origin of the wines directly onto the label. I illustrated the specific vineyard areas from which the grapes were harvested and overlaid them with contour lines that reference the topography of the region. This geographic visualization not only highlights the unique characteristics of each “Ried” but also creates a strong visual link to the land and its winemaking heritage. A stamped emblem of the historic winery reinforces the craftsmanship and long-standing quality associated with Stadt Krems.

To bring a sense of vibrancy and refinement, I selected color palettes inspired by the natural tones of the grapes: a deep, muted green paired with a vivid neon green, and a rich, muted purple contrasted with a brighter, energetic violet. Both labels feature gold foil detailing to accentuate the vineyard contours and elevate the overall premium feel. The top edge of the label is shaped with a soft, wave-like line, echoing the organic flow of the contour lines and the gentle rhythm of the wine-growing landscape—adding lightness, movement, and a contemporary touch.
